Flying high - Over the Cliff!
Being a coastal town and seaside clifftop location, New Milton and Barton on Sea do sometimes get fairly windy. Don't let that put you off coming though - a good breeze to blow the cobwebs away is nothing bad.
Last week, we parked at Barton Common - there is a small free car park off Barton Common Road and set off on a walk across the golf course and out on to the clifftop.
Often there are one or two hang gliders making use of the lift from the wind, but that day, we were so surprised to see so many of the colourful kites floating along the cliff. I have to say, they are so brave, just a quick run and a jump, taking their lives in their hands before floating upwards.
We headed past the gliders, across the grass and popped into the Cliffhanger café (dogs welcome) for a cuppa and a large piece of cake, before heading back.
